Technology Finance Veteran James Kelly Joins Top Layer Networks as Chief Financial Officer

Westboro, MA, October 25, 2004 -

Top Layer Networks, Inc., a provider of globally proven intrusion prevention solutions, today announced the appointment of James Kelly as chief financial officer. Kelly will report to CEO Peter Rendall and manage Top Layer’s financial operations as it scales up to support the launch of its newest family of intrusion prevention products, the Attack Mitigator IPS 5500.

Prior to joining Top Layer, James was interim CFO at Gold Wire Technology, an access control and network appliance provider and before that he served as vice president of finance at PerformaWorks, a workforce management software company. James spent several years as an executive financial consultant, supporting such clients as Verizon and BBN Technologies. He was also CFO of CyberTrust, an Internet security spinout of GTE Internetworking, where he had been chief financial manager. His prior professional finance roles over the past twenty-five years include time at the Kellaway Group, Pioneer Medical Systems, Raytheon, and Nexus Capital, a technology leasing company he co-founded.

James holds a BS in accounting and economics from Bryant College, an MBA from Babson with a concentration in finance and entrepreneurship, and expects to receive his Ph.D. from Kennedy-Western University later this year. James was also chairman of the Foxboro Advisory Committee and is a registered investment adviser with the SEC.
