Top Layer Pursues Common Criteria Evaluation for its IPS 5500 E-series

Top Layer Networks, a global leader for high performance intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that its award winning IPS 5500 E-Series is undergoing the process for Common Criteria evaluation.

The Common Criteria was established by an international team to replace the security criteria and processes used in the various participating countries with a common criteria and process, with the goal that product evaluations conducted in one country would be accepted in the other countries. This has been successfully accomplished and the number of countries that now recognize each other’s evaluations has grown from the initial five to 14, and more are planning to join. As part of the Common Criteria process, the IPS 5500 E-Series is being evaluated by the Cygnacom Security Evaluation Lab (SEL) at the Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4. The IPS 5500 E-Series system has received Security Target Specification and has passed IVOR review.
