Top Layer IPS Appliance
Top Layer's IPS appliances scale in performance from 300Mbit/sec to 4.4Gbit/sec.
With Top Layer's ProtectionCluster capabilities, up to 8 IPS appliances
can be interconnected to deliver the highest performance in the industry,
as well as providing transparent high-availability capabilities. The Top
Layer IPS can be deployed in a variety of modes, including detection-only,
pre-emptive blocking or a combination of both. The Top Layer IPS detection/protection
capabilities use an integrated three dimensional approach to perform thousands
of inspections on each packet to filter out any malicious traffic.

 |
- Stops exploits of critical vulnerabilities
- Keeps Spyware, viruses, botnet programs and other
malware out of the network
- Thwarts advanced hybrid and application level attacks
- Provides P2P security
- Protects VoIP infrastructure
- Blocks DDoS and botnet-based attacks
- Prevents undesired access
|
| New Protection Processor Engine - Unlike other IPS
approaches, the Top Layer IPS uses a state-of-the-art, multi-tiered "Protection
Processor Architecture" that couples our industry-proven protocol validation
modules with a new set of data validation modules that inspect file content
regardless of the protocol over which the files are being transported. This
approach requires fewer filters which means we can deliver new protection
more quickly while dramatically reducing the incidence of false positives
compared to other IPS technologies. |
 |
Real-Time Incident Response - The Top Layer IPS has a built-in intrusion
response engine that displays security events in real-time. The rich drill-down
capabilities can be used to identify attackers, victims and the types of
attack.
Reliability - The IPS appliance has seamless fail-over, hot swappable
power supplies and fans and no rotating media or chip fans, making it the
IPS with the longest MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) rating in the industry
at 11+years. |

Network Security Analyzer (NSA) Software
Top Layer's NSA provides essential security intelligence to help identify
and understand hacker, virus and SPAM/spyware behavior, security breaches
and unauthorized access to sensitive information. Armed with this intelligence,
organizations are easily able to combat security threats and meet compliance
auditing requirements. The powerful capabilities can be expanded beyond
the events collected by the IPS appliances, in fact NSA can be upgraded
to automatically collect and correlate event data from a variety of multi-vendor
network and security devices.

IPS Controller Software
Top Layer's IPS Controller is used to configure and manage multiple Top
Layer IPS appliances. The IPS Controller replicates the user interface of
the IPS appliance and can show aggregated data from any combination of deployed
IPS appliances, including high-availability clusters. Like the IPS appliance,
the IPS Controller provides real-time data and drill-down capabilities.
Editing configurations is intuitive and applying new TopResponse protection
packs across the entire IPS appliance infrastructure couldn't be easier.

|
TopResponse Threat Update Service
Top Layer's TopResponse threat update service is an integral part of
the IPS solution. TopResponse is a subscription service that delivers
frequent protection pack updates and security advisories created by Top
Layer's Security Active Response Team. Protection packs typically include
data about badly behaving IP addresses collected from thousands of sensors
throughout the Internet, as well as updated vulnerability and attack signatures.
Security advisories, an important aspect of the TopResponse service, inform
customers of newly discovered threats, recommend any actions that might
be necessary to obtain protection against the threat, or assure customers
that they've already received true zero-day protection, and need take
no further action.
